Moberly Girls Clinch NCMC Title, Kirksville Boys Stay in Race

The Moberly girls clinched at least a share of the North Central Missouri Conference Championship and the Kirksville boys stayed in title contention with wins Tuesday night.

The Lady Spartans notched a 54-33 victory despite playing without leading post player Asa Fanning. Moberly was powered by a hot start.

Austin Ward with the calls on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Grace Billington scored a game-high 23 points, Haley Baker put in 12 and Kennedy Messer finished with 10. Coach Tony Vestal said everyone stepped up.

Vestal said the conference title feels good.

Kirksville was led by Channing Totta’s 15. Elli Porter had 13. The Lady Tigers fall to 11-11. Moberly is 14-7.

The Kirksville boys scored the first eight points in a 79-47 rout of the Spartans. Keaton Anderson contributed 20 points, Cole Kelly 17, Isaac Danielson 16 and Justin McKim 11 for the Tigers. Coach Tyler Martin said it was good to see shots fall.
