Moberly Doubles Team And Mexico Singles Player Claim 7th Place At The State Tournament

The Moberly doubles team of sophomore Ryan O’Laughlin and senior Max Meystrik finished in 7th place at the MSHSAA State Tennis Tournament in Springfield today (Sat.). The Spartan duo defeated Trenton’s Trent Villacampa and Bradyn Sager 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 to earn All-State medals.

On Friday, O’Laughlin/Meystrik won their opening round match over a team from Logan-Rogersville (6-2, 6-4). The Spartans then lost in the quarterfinals to a New Covenant Academy duo 6-4, 7-6(7). O’Laughlin/Meystrik stayed alive with a thrilling win over a St. Pius Tenth-KC pair 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.

In the doubles consolation semifinal this morning (Sat.) O’Laughlin/Meystrik lost to a Clayton duo 6-3, 6-2, to set up the 7th place match.

Brendan McKeown of Mexico won the Class 1 7th place singles match by default. Earlier in the day, he fell in the singles consolation semifinal to Spencer Pompian of Clayton 6-2, 6-3.
