Moberly Boys 4×200 Relay Title Highlights Class 4 State Track And Field Championship

Moberly High School is a state champion once again. The Spartans 4×200 relay team highlighted the Class 4 Track & Field Championships at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City. By winning the event, the Spartans have their first individual state champion of any kind in nine years.

Spartans Track and Field coach Tony Stoneking credits hard work for the culmination of the title.

The relay team of Dominic Stoneking, Mar’sean Winn, Jacksyn Miller and Toby Short followed up their championship performance with a fifth place finish in the 4×100 relay. Short also provided points for Moberly by placing fifth in Triple Jump, and sixth in Long Jump.

Kirksville senior Samuel Thomas went home with a pair of bronze medals in the 100, and 400 meter dashes. Junior teammate Owen Fraser placed third in discus, sixth in shot put, and seventh in javelin. Junior Kevin Crooks’ 800M, and the boys 4×800 relay both warranted sixth place finishes. The boys 4×400 relay team placed eighth. On the girls side, freshman Jersey Herbst stood out in her state debut with a fifth place run in the 300MH. Senior Kenslie Stufflebean placed seventh in the 100MH.

Mexico also saw some success on the day. Senior Jordan Mitchell was seventh in the 100M. Senior Raef Yager claimed eighth in the High Jump, and the boys 4×200 relay team also placed eighth.
