Mix of Returners and Newcomers Spurring Strong Start for the Moberly Sixers

After finishing with a 26-8 record and a runner-up finish last season, the Moberly Sixers senior legion baseball team is seeking big things in 2022. Sixers manager Drew Hunt says the team features a number of returners from last season.

The Sixers are off to a 7-3 start, which includes taking first place at the Hannibal Memorial Day Tournament. Hunt says some new faces have helped with the strong start.

Hunt explains his mentality for managing a diverse roster of 18 players.

The Sixers’ lone home date for the summer was a doubleheader sweep of Bethany on June 5th. Moberly will play in weekend tournaments in Washington, Blue Springs, and Crawfordsville, Indiana during the season. Hunt says these tournaments will help prepare them for postseason play.

Moberly is coming off a second place finish this past weekend at the Sedalia Wood Bat Tournament. This week the Sixers travel for doubleheaders Friday at Hannibal and Sunday at Bethany.
