Missourians Reminded to Repel and Remove Ticks

Warmer weather months bring Missourians into potential contact with ticks. The three species of ticks in Missouri are the Lone Star Tick, American Dog Tick and the Deer Tick. Monroe County Conservation Agent Jessica Filla says there are repellants that can keep ticks away from you.

Anyone who is out in the woods during the spring and summer is advised to check for ticks after returning home. Filla discusses what to do if you find a tick on your body.

Ticks carry a variety of diseases, including Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and the Heartland Virus.
