A recent tour of Taiwan included members of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council’s board of directors. Lewis Rone of Portageville said he was able to hear from buyers why Taiwan purchases a majority of their soy imports from the U.S.

The U.S. Soybean Export Council also marked 50 years of trade with Taiwan during the trip. Rone said the efforts of the council and United Soybean Board have connected customers with farmers over the years, including direct exports from Missouri.

Rone says U.S. farmers account for roughly 70% of Taiwan’s soybean imports.
