Soybean experts are helping develop more efficient aquaculture systems, and by extension markets for bean exports, across Southeast Asia.  The U.S. Soybean Export Council is continuing efforts to establish in-pond raceway systems across Vietnam for efficient feeding of fish and other seafood.  Matt Amick, director of biodiesel and new uses with Missouri Soybeans, says they’ve also developed a system in neighboring Cambodia.

Amick says the goal is to not only increase seafood output, but also demand for meal from soybeans grown in Missouri.

The U.S. Soybean Export Council estimates that Southeast Asia uses about nine million metric tons of commercially produced aquafeeds each year, with soy accounting for nearly 40 percent of that total.
