Despite concerns from both parties, Missouri’s redistricting process continues to move forward. State Representative Peggy McGaugh recently attended a meeting that featured a member of the House Bipartisan Commission for Redistricting. She says the process is currently on schedule.

If the commission fails to agree, then an appellate commission will be appointed to draw up the final map. McGaugh says if that happens the whole process could be working within a very tight window.

Both Republicans and Democrats have raised concerns about gerrymandering regarding the redistricting process. However, McGaugh feels those concerns have been alleviated.

While gerrymandering may not be a concern, Missouri’s redistricting process has recently hit a snag with some Republicans and Democrats squabbling over keeping a public comment period open.
