Both the Missouri House of Representatives and the Senate are working on legislation that would protect different entities against COVID-19 lawsuits. Representative Cheri Toalson Reisch says this legislation is meant to prevent unnecessary lawsuits due to the pandemic.

Toalson Reisch details some of the entities that would be protected under this legislation.

Under the House bill, a plaintiff in such a lawsuit would have to clearly prove that the entity or individual acted recklessly or with willful misconduct resulting in exposure to COVID-19. Governor Mike Parson made COVID-19 liability protections one of his priorities during his recent State of the State address.
