The Missouri House Budget Committee is beginning the lengthy process of working out the new state budget. Committee member Peggy McGaugh says an added wrinkle in this process is determining how to best use the COVID-19 relief money the state is receiving from the federal government.

The Carrollton Republican adds one of the early focuses on the budget is increasing pay for state employees.

During his State of the State Address last month, Governor Mike Parson revealed a 47 billion dollar budget proposal. The deadline for the state legislature to pass a balanced budget is May 6th.
