Missouri Home to 23 of 100 ‘Horrible’ Puppy Mills

Twenty-three puppy mills in Missouri have been named to the national Humane Society’s “Horrible Hundred” list for 2024. Missouri has more puppy mills on this year’s list than any other state for the 12th year in a row. The second closest this year is Ohio with 20. A kennel in Hallsville made the report for the sixth time. USDA inspectors in the past year found a buildup of feces in some of the outdoor enclosures, a strong odor, unsafe conditions, and veterinary care concerns. In December, the USDA was not given access to the kennel when they arrived for an inspection. Other violators were cited in Clifton Hill, Sturgeon, Madison, Clark, Fulton, and Canton.
