The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives is sending more than 150 lineworkers from 30 cooperatives to help with power restoration and cleanup efforts east of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Some of the workers are coming from Boone Electric Cooperative, Callaway Electric Cooperative, Consolidated Electric Cooperative in Mexico, Farmers’ Electric Cooperative in Chillicothe, and Macon Electric Cooperative. Missouri crews first helped with hurricane relief efforts in 2004 when the Gulf Coast was hit by Hurricane Ivan. Missouri co-ops received assistance restoring power following devastating ice storms in 2007 and 2009. Ameren is sending 300 workers from Missouri and Illinois for two weeks to assist in the restoration efforts.
