While no foul play is suspected, a missing 36-year-old Bethel man has been located dead. Matthew Allen Shaw had not been seen or heard from by any family members since the evening of May 15th. At that time Shaw was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 168 East of Shelbyville. Shaw left the scene of the accident prior to law enforcement arriving. According to witnesses, Shaw was last seen walking into the woods away from the accident. Sergeant Eric Brown with the Highway Patrol says the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office returned to the area of the crash with a large search team provided by Christian Aid Ministries Friday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol also responded to assist with the search. Just before 10am, a member of the search team located Shaw deceased. Shaw was pronounced dead by the Shelby County Coroner. An autopsy will be performed at the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office. This is an active investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and further details cannot be released at this time.
