Earlier this week, the Milan C-2 School District released a survey to parents and district patrons on a potential switch to a four day school week. The switch would go into effect for the 2022-23 school year. Superintendent Dr. Ben Yocom says the feedback from the survey will help the school board make its decision.

Milan, like many school districts across the country, is being impacted by the ongoing teacher shortage. Yocom says the move to a four day school week would help with teacher recruitment and retention.

Yocom adds the longer school days during the four day week could prove beneficial for the students.

The Milan School Board will take the results from the community survey and make a final decision on the potential four day week by the February meeting.
