Milan and Putnam County Set for Rematch in District Semifinals

The Milan Wildcats will travel to Unionville for a rematch with the Putnam County Midgets in the Class 1 District 7 Semifinals. Putnam County won the first meeting 21-18 back in week three. Milan coach Mark Cole shares his thoughts on the rematch.

The 6-4 Wildcats survived a scare last week from Maysville as they defeated the Wolverines 22-20 in double overtime. Milan’s defense is averaging 21.2 points against this season. Cole says the key for the defensive unit this week will be stopping Putnam County running back Blaine Perkins.

Blaine Perkins has rushed for 1335 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Midgets. For first-year Putnam County head coach Adam Huse, he says his team has been putting in the effort since the offseason.

Putnam County comes into this contest 8-2 after a convincing win at home against South Harrison 44-14. Huse says winning ways are building the confidence of his squad this season.

The last time these two schools met in the postseason was in 2018, that game going the Wildcat’s way 39-7. You can hear the game on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com, with pregame beginning at 6:40. Colin Schowe and Steven Findley Jr will have the call.
