Mike Leach Enters Second Year at Mississippi State

Mississippi State enters its second season under head coach Mike Leach. The Bulldogs finished last season 4-7. The offense produced 14 points or less five times. Leach hopes wide receiver Austin Williams will play a key role in improving the offensive output.

Williams gives his expectations for the offense.

Mississippi State scored 51 points in its regular season finale over Mizzou and defeated Tulsa 28-26 in the Armed Forces Bowl. The Bulldogs are projected to finish last in the SEC West this season.

The Bulldogs have two running backs in Jo’quavious Marks and Dillon Johnson on the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list. Leach thinks his team could potentially get a boost after the school’s baseball team won a national title.

Mississippi State opens its season at home against Louisiana Tech.
