Michael “Mike” Wayne Dameron
Michael Wayne Dameron, age 67, of New Hartford, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2024 at St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Dorn officiating, along with Fr. Henry Ussher. Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green.
Mike was born October 28, 1956 in Troy, MO, the son of Robert Wayne and Florence Mae Hopke Dameron. Mike grew up in Olney and attended Silex Schools, where he graduated in 1975. A few years following graduation, Mike moved to Bowling Green. It was while working at her neighbor’s farm, that Mike met and fell in love with Cathy Jean Luebrecht when he saw her driving by on a tractor.
On April 19, 1986 he married Cathy at St. Clement Catholic Church and that following year they moved to New Hartford, where they reside today. Mike was a partner with his father in the trucking business until he became sole owner in 1992. In 2010, Mike retired from trucking and began working for Crop Production Services in Bowling Green until his health forced him into retirement in 2014.
Mike enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. One of his highlights of time on his bike was riding to Minnesota to see the start of the Mississippi River. He also spent many years pulling antique John Deere tractors. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and regularly attended Sacred Heart Parish in Vandalia. Mike loved being active and working, but above all, Mike loved his family.
Mike leaves behind his wife Cathy of 38 years; sister Emily Marie Orf (Charles “Buzz”) of Bowling Green; Uncle Jack Dameron; nieces Tina Dube (Gerry) and Dena Conners (Matt); adopted grandchildren Wyatt Brown and Kalli Jo Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Roberta Schulze.
Serving has pallbearers will be Kyle Burris, Jim Craig, Mike Hagenhoff, Kris Burris, Joe Klott, and Alan Feldman. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Brown, Kalli Jo Brown, Tina Dube, and Dena Conners.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
