Voters in the City of Mexico will see a proposal for a three cent marijuana sales tax on the April ballot. City Manager Bruce Slagle says the Missouri Municipal League provided an estimate of how much revenue this might raise, based on what cities are getting from medical dispensaries.

The city plans to put the proceeds towards public safety.

The Mexico City Council approved putting the measure on the ballot at Monday night’s meeting.
