Mexico Scholar Bowl Set for First Trip to State

For the first time in program history, the Mexico Scholar Bowl team has reached the state finals. It will compete in Class 5 this Saturday against Sullivan, Savannah and Ladue. The team is led by sophomore Camden Williams, who finished 16th at the Individual Player National Championship Tournament in Chicago earlier this season. Coach Dale Schenewerk explains Williams’ strengths.

While Williams is the team’s top performer, Mexico has several others who have stepped up this season.

The Bulldogs squeaked by Priory to advance to the Class 5 semifinals. They will begin competition Saturday at noon against Sullivan. Schenewerk says they have some familarity with the state opposition.

The championship will be held at Memorial Union on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. The championship match is scheduled for 3:30.
