MEXICO PUBLIC SAFETY INVESTIGATING HOUSE FIRE CAUSE

Mexico Public Safety responded to a report of a house fire in the 100 block of South Mississippi Street. The call came in Saturday morning at around 3 am. Upon arrival the home had flames shooting out of its windows on three different sides. The fire was successfully extinguished but the home suffered significant damage. All residents were successfully evacuated and no injuries were reported. The fire was found around a bed inside the home and residents made attempts to extinguish the blaze prior to calling 911. Early indications are the fire was caused by electronics plugged in, on and around the bed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
