The COVID-19 pandemic is new to this generation, but not to those who lived through scary maladies before vaccines were developed. On our History on the Radio segment on KWIX this week, local storyteller J.W. Ballinger remembered the outbreak of chicken pox and mumps. Another frightening virus was polio.

Ballinger said quarantine locations were set up around Moberly and Randolph County.

Ballinger says the Randolph County Historical Society will not open in April as normally happens.
