Media Attends a Use of Force and Accountability Forum at MSHP

About to a dozen members of the media from across Missouri, including Regional Radio, learned a little more about the use of force and the accountability that goes along with it, by attending a forum hosted Friday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jefferson City. The program included classroom work, and several simulated situations involving traffic stops and shooting incidents. Captain John Hotz with the Highway Patrol says this is the seventh forum, and the first for the media.

Hotz says the public is generally surprised with how rarely officers use force.

Governor Mike Parson also addressed the group.

The forum had previously been presented to lawmakers and also to numerous community leaders.
