Meadville’s 2015 state championship boys basketball team won the recent centralmoinfo.com All-Decade poll. Head coach Drew Nier discusses Meadville’s mindset amid an undefeated season.

Meadville defeated Winston 50-46 in the state championship to finish 32-0 in Nier’s first season as head coach. Nier previously assisted Meadville’s 2014 runner-up team and 2013 fourth place squad. The Eagles started five seniors in 2015.

Nier says those Meadville Show-Me Showdown teams shaped the Eagles’ continued success.

Meadville’s 2015 Class 1 state championship team graduated five starters, yet the Eagles ended 18-10 in 2016 before four straight 21-win seasons, including two state quarterfinal appearances. Nier enters his seventh season as the Meadville boys coach this winter, and he told centralmoinfo.com he will also guide the Lady Eagles this year. Caitlin Jones resigned after two years as the Meadville girls coach.
