Meadville Scrapes Past Leeton, Keeps Perfect Season Bid Alive

Free throws and defense were leaned upon by the Meadville Lady Eagles as they defeated Leeton 51-46 to advance to the Class 1 championship game at the Show-Me Showdown in Springfield. Meadville is one win away from completing a perfect 31-0 season.

The Lady Eagles did not trail for three quarters, keeping Leeton at arms length for a majority of the contest. The Lady Bulldogs tied the game for the first time early in the fourth, which at one point became a three-point advantage. Paige Carvajal delivered the answer for Meadville.

Steven Findley Jr. with the call on Superstation KRES and Korrie Holcer went seven for eight from the charity strike in the final frame. Madison Carvajal paced Meadville with a 17-point performance. Coach Carvajal applauded the defensive effort.

The final opponent for Meadville comes by way of the Chadwick Lady Cardinals. Carvajal said the Lady Cardinals won’t back down against his unbeaten squad.

Leeton was without its leading scorer in Jordan Crooks but found scoring through Jadeyn Johnson and Hadley Shaffer, each finishing with 12 points. We will have the championship game between Meadville and Chadwick Friday on KRES and Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 with Steven Findley Jr. providing play-by-play.
