MBCA HOF Inductee Buescher Doesn’t Plan to Stop Coaching Anytime Soon

As reported last week, La Plata boys basketball coach Greg Buescher is one of 10 individuals who will be inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this September. Buescher began coaching in 1990 as the head boys basketball coach at Griggsville-Perry School district in Illinois. With over 30 years of coaching experience and son Jarrett graduating from La Plata this May, Buescher was asked how long he plans to continue coaching. He wanted to make one thing clear.

Buescher guided Sturgeon to a 32-0 Class 2 state title in 2010 and was also named the Class 2 Coach of the Year. Buescher collected his 500th career win last December in a game against Bevier. The fourth-year La Plata coach doesn’t plan to hang it up any time soon.

In addition to stops at Griggsville-Perry, Sturgeon, and La Plata, Buescher has also been the head coach at Clark County, Moberly, Glasgow, Southeastern, Trenton and Mexico.
