Mary Frances “Frankie” Branstetter, age 95 of Bowling Green, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Parkside Manor in Bowling Green.

Cremation rites are under the direction of Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes & Crematory in Bowling Green. A family held memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, October 28, 2024, at New Harmony Christian Church in rural Curryville with Pastor Darin Clack officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow in the New Harmony Cemetery.

Frankie was born in St. Louis on March 24, 1929, the daughter of Dwight and Dorothy Lawson Goree. She grew up in St. Louis until the age of 14, when her family moved to Vandalia, MO. It was while in Vandalia she met and married Freddie Orville Young, Sr in 1946 and later divorced. To this union 4 children were born. Frankie would later go on to marry Jay S. Thomas and Joe Branstetter.

Frankie spent her working years as a meat cutter. She first worked for Ogden Meat Locker in Vandalia and spent 31 years working for Woods Locker in Bowling Green before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, baking cakes for birthdays and weddings, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed traveling to Arizona, Texas, and California with Joe, as well as Florida with her sister. Frankie was a member of the New Harmony Christian Church.

Frankie leaves behind two sons, Freddie O. Young, Jr of Bowling Green, as well as Evert Young of Rockport, IL; stepdaughters Sharon Hasty of New London and Deborah Kraft of Curryville; stepsons Marion Branstetter of Frankford and David Mast of Columbia, MO; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Carol Gerard; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, sons Francis Young and Paul Young; brothers Wayne Goree and Gilbert Goree; sister Anna Mae Williams.
