Marceline’s Peterson Thrilled to Land Local Job With Tradition

Marceline named Joey Peterson its head football coach three weeks ago.

Peterson’s wife Katie is a 2009 Marceline graduate. The Mountain Grove native elaborates on the convenience of the Marceline opportunity.

Peterson served three years on Macon’s staff, including nine games as Macon’s interim coach last season.

Peterson replaced Jameson Allen week four of last season and proceeded to coach Macon to a district runner-up finish.

Peterson follows 2021 KRES Coach of the Year Mark Ross at Marceline.

12-2 Marceline lost to East Buchanan 21-7 in the state championship last fall.

Marceline owns three straight district championships and seven consecutive Lewis and Clark Conference titles. Before Macon, Peterson assisted one year at Fayette then six seasons at his alma mater Mountain Grove. Hear Peterson’s full interview below.
