The Marceline wrestling programs have high aspirations going into the second half of the year. The Tigers boys wrestling team finished third in Class 1 last year, but have significant roster turnover. Head coach Austin Bruner reveals this years roster.

A majority of Marceline’s boys wrestlers are coming from football after they made a state semifinal appearance. The Tigers schedule will ramp up in the new year.

Bruner says unlike last year, the Tigers are not focusing on goals, but staying true to their core values.

Marceline also is one of the few teams in the state to have a girls wrestling program. Bruner offers an update how the Lady Tigers are doing.

The Lady Tigers return state qualifiers Kenzie Stahl, Baylee Jobson, and Addy Schmitt, and have 13 girls participating in the program. Bruner reveals some of the underclassmen who have performed well.

MSHSAA held its inagural girls state wrestling championships this past February and run one open-class tournament coinciding with the boys tournament at Mizzou Arena in February.
