Marceline Takes Down 5th-Ranked Westran

All 27 points were scored in the second half in a 14-13 Marceline win over Westran at Chester Ray Stadium. Marceline struck first in the 3rd quarter on a 55-yard touchdown run by Caleb Stallo. Conner Quinn added another touchdown in the quarter to make it 14-0. The Hornets struck back quick.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The extra point was good to make it 14-7. Marshall Kitchen led a late drive in the fourth for Westran, finishing the drive with a touchdown on the ground. Westran then elected to go for the lead.

Westran’s Rick Stephenson executed the onside kick and the Hornets recovered to regain possession. Marceline’s defense stepped up one final time as Dax Thomas intercepted a pass in the back of the end zone. Coach Joey Peterson talked about the late onside kick.

Quinn led the Tiger’s offense with 130 yards rushing and the score. Peterson on the ground game.

The Hornets 134 total yards all came on the ground. Starting quarterback Gage Adler did not play in the contest. Westran coach Andrew Baxley.

Westran takes its first conference loss this season, and were held to less than 15 points for just the second time. Baxley said his team has to get after it at practice following the loss.

Marceline’s win streak extends to five straight. The Tigers are now 5-3 and 3-1 in the Lewis & Clark. Westran drops to 6-2 with one game left against L&C opponent Salisbury.
