Marceline Rallies in Seventh to Beat New Bloomfield

The Marceline Lady Tigers scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 10-4 win over New Bloomfield in a Class 2 Semifinal in Springfield Friday night. Trailing 4-3 to start the inning Ella Lowe reached on an error. Pinch hitter Emma Cathey then chased her home with a double to tie the game. The Lady Tigers then loaded the bases on a single and another New Bloomfield error. Sarah Kussman then delivered the go-ahead hit.

The home run was Jordan’s fifth of the season. Marceline starting pitcher Cassi Rodgers closed out the game with her sixth strikeout of the night to complete the comeback. Marceline coach Todd Lowther said the girls had the right mentality to complete the comeback.
Rodgers overcame a slow start where she walked four batters in the first inning leading to two New Bloomfield runs. Lowther said he was proud of the way his starter battled back in the circle.
