Marceline Meets Adrian in Return to State Quarterfinals Saturday

Marceline football welcomes Adrian for the state quarterfinals Saturday. The 10-1 Tigers defeated a Lewis and Clark Conference opponent in each of their two district games. Marceline head coach Mark Ross says the Tigers are eager to see a new foe when 9-1 Adrian visits.

Reigning state semifinalist Marceline topped Fayette and Harrisburg in districts. Adrian outlasted Crest Ridge and Sweet Springs with Malta Bend. Ross scouts the Blackhawk offense.

The Tigers surrender 15 points per game. Adrian also features a stingy defense having allowed just under 15 points per game this season. Adrian coach Matt Cochran shares his thoughts on going up against Marceline’s high-flying offense.

The Blackhawks are led by a 1,000-yard rusher in freshman Hunter Bailey. Their roster also features a heavy senior presence with all of their starters on the line of scrimmage being upperclassmen. Cochran says that experience is key this time of year.

State quarterfinal coverage of Marceline versus Adrian begins at 12:40pm Saturday on KIRK and centralmoinfo.com. Regional Radio’s Eric Duick and Colin Schowe have the call.
