Marceline Looks to Maintain LCC Dominance When Undefeated Fayette Visits Friday

Marceline welcomes Fayette for its first home game Friday. The Tigers lost to Illinois power Quincy Notre Dame 49-7 last week. Marceline head coach Mark Ross says the 2-1 Tigers need a consistent performance.

The Tigers boast six straight Lewis and Clark titles. Marceline owns victories in 47 of its last 48 league games, including 21 straight since a 2018 loss to Fayette. Ross shares this week’s offensive keys for a Tiger team that averages an uncharacteristic 15 points per game.

This marks the first of four straight Marceline home games. Meanwhile, Fayette will conclude a three-game road trip when they visit Marceline. The Falcons are off to a high-flying 3-0 start where they’ve averaged 43.3 points per game. However, Fayette coach Mike Thompson says they will face a stiff test from Marceline’s defense.

Marceline has shutout Fayette in each of the last two regular season meetings, both by the score of 27-0. After pitching a shutout in week one against Carrollton, the Fayette defense has allowed 57 points over the past two weeks. Thompson says his defense will need to be on top of their game against an experienced Marceline offense.

Both Fayette and Marceline are 1-0 in Lewis & Clark Conference play coming into the contest. Eric Duick and Colin Schowe will have the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:40 pm.
