Marceline Heads to South Callaway For State Quarterfinals With Eyes On 10th Straight Win
11-1 Marceline visits 6-6 South Callaway in the state quarterfinals Saturday on KIRK. Mark Ross’ Tigers enter the quarterfinals with eight sophomore starters on offense and seven on defense.
Marceline defeated Sweet Springs 23-14 in the district championship thanks in part to rushing touchdowns from sophomores Wyatt Molloy and Hunter Nelson. Ross scouts the South Callaway defense.
South Callaway competes in the EMO. Ross looks at the Bulldog offense.
South Callaway beat Westran, South Shelby, and Brentwood in districts after a 3-6 regular season. Quarterback Cole Shoemaker rushed for five touchdowns in last week’s 35-20 victory at Brentwood. South Callaway head coach Zack Hess shares his impressions of Marceline.
Hess notes South Callaway doubled Brentwood in time of possession last week, and the coach anticipates ball control will play a major role in Saturday’s outcome.
Marceline owns nine straight wins. Coverage of Marceline at South Callaway starts at 12:40pm on 99.9 The Captain and centralmoinfo.com with Eric Duick and Stuart Cox on the call Saturday.
