Marceline Farmer Explains Appeal Of Direct-To-Consumer Sales

Even while working in a major metropolitan, Jerry Gall knew his desire was to provide farm goods directly to consumers. The Marceline farmer behind Big Oak Beef tells Regional Radio he originally wanted to sell milk from dairy cows already on his farm.

Gall has sold beef directly to consumers for about two years. He says following shortages at meat cases in several grocery stores, he’s visited with many first-time customers, and along with that answering their questions.

Gall is one of more than 500 producers and processors listed on Missouri Farm Bureau’s online meat producer directory.
