Marceline Beats Eugene To Get Back To The State Finals

The Marceline Lady Tigers get a chance to defend their state title, after a 7-1 semifinal victory over Eugene at the MSHSAA Softball Championships in Springfield today (Fri). Both teams scored a run in the first inning. A key swing play came in the bottom of the 4th, with Eugene threatening to go on top….

Austin Ward with the call on Superstation KRES and Marceline coach Todd Lowther could feel a momentum shift after that play….

Ella Lowe had the big hit in the three-run 5th….

Ava Thornburg provided insurance in the top of the 7th…..

In the other semifinal, Sherwood shutout Russellville 1-0. The Lady Marksmen will get another shot at Marceline in a rematch of the Class 2 championship game a year ago that was won by Marceline 4-1.
