A manhunt that began with a traffic stop Tuesday, ended Wednesday morning with a 27-year-old Kansas man being arrested. Sergeant Eric Brown with the State Highway Patrol says Jeffrey Stulgate from Junction City, Kansas, was taken into custody just before 8 on the Doyle Manufacturing property, north of Palmyra. This began when a trooper stopped a vehicle on eastbound Highway 36, east of Monroe City.

A perimeter was set up as Stulgate fled north out of the Palmyra area on foot, and a manhunt began involving multiple agencies, dogs, and a helicopter.

Brown says Stulgate potentially faces charges for resisting arrest, robbery, assault, and armed criminal action. Stulgate was originally wanted on a Cook County, Illinois warrant for home invasion. Brown says assistance from all of the agencies and the public helped bring this incident to a peaceful and successful resolution.
