Columbia Police have identified the man killed by an officer Wednesday as 28-year-old Jordan Pruyn of Columbia. Officers were called to the 42-hundred block of Clark Lane around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon in regards to a man assaulting people with a weapon. Pruyn barricaded himself in a mobile home. After multiple attempts to communicate with him, around 5:45 he ran out the front door with a knife, and ignored orders to drop it. Two officers fired at him. Pruyn was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and Columbia Police Internal Affairs are both investigating. The two officers are on administrative leave, pending the outcome of criminal and internal investigations.
