Man Killed and Woman Seriously Hurt in Shelby County Accident

A Clarence man is dead, and a woman from there was seriously hurt, after their pickup was hit in the rear by an alleged drunk driver. The State Highway Patrol says that happened around 6:50 Friday night on Highway 36, a mile east of Lentner. The pickup driven by 64-year-old Charles Craig then slid down an embankment and ejected both him and 50-year-old Constance Romanetto. He was pronounced dead at the scene. She was taken to Columbia. The other driver, 47-year-old Jerry Fifer of Shelbina, had minor injuries, and was taken to the Shelby County Jail on suspicion of felony DWI causing the death of another, felony DWI causing serious physical injury, and careless and imprudent driving.
