Macon Picks Up Big Win Over Centralia

Macon never trailed in a 28-22 victory over Centralia. Macon coupled a three-and-out with an offensive score on its first two drives to lead 14-0 after one quarter. Trevin Shrum scored from two yards out and Mykel Linear connected with Chrisjen Riekeberg for a five-yard score. Shrum finished the game with an unofficial 127 rushing yards on 19 carries. Beau Gordon put Centralia on the board with a one-yard run and Macon led 14-8 at the half. After both teams exchanged scores in the third, Macon faced a 4th and 8 early in the fourth quarter.

Austin Ward with the call on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Centralia scored a touchdown with 2:45 to go in the game but Macon never gave the ball back. Macon coach Joey Peterson said stopping Centralia on three-and-out on their first two series were huge.

Mykel Linear went 8-for-11 passing for 126 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed 18 times for 80 yards. Centralia coach Tyler Forsee said their best effort just wasn’t enough.

Macon moves to 4-4 and 3-3 in the Clarence Cannon Conference, and plays at Clark County next week. Centralia falls to 4-4 and 4-2 in the conference, and will host Palmyra next week.
