Macon Hosts Monroe City on Senior Night

The Macon boys and girls basketball teams will celebrate senior night Friday night when they host Monroe City. A young Tigerette squad brings a 9-15 record into the showdown. Macon defeated Clark County 44-23 Tuesday to win its second conference game of the season. Coach Natalie Garlock says she expects an evenly matched contest with Monroe City.

Monroe City features a 9-16 record. The Lady Panthers snapped a six-game losing streak Tuesday with a 49-35 win over Brookfield. Coach Adam Rung says the Lady Panthers continued improvement on the offensive end will be key.

In the boys’ game, Macon will recognize their eight seniors prior to the game. Senior MyKel Linear became the fourth senior on the team to pass a thousand points for his varsity career in Tuesday’s win against Clark County. That victory also gave the Tigers the Clarence Cannon Conference title. Coach Dale Devenport says his team needs to remain focused.

Macon’s claim to the CCC crown snapped Monroe City’s streak of four straight titles. The Panthers have experienced a rebuilding season as they enter the game with a 7-18 record. One positive for Monroe City is their defense, which allows 48.8 points per game. Coach Brock Edris discusses the defensive keys against the Tigers.
