January 9, 2024 6:05PM CST
Crews with the Macon Electric Cooperative are combating widespread power outages across their coverage area. Approximately 4,000 meters are currently out. Operations Manager Josh Langhammer discusses their efforts to restore power.
An exact timeline for restoring power to customers has yet to be established. Langhammer says there’s a couple culprits for the outages.
Power outages have also resulted in KIRK and KWIX FM going off the air. Macon Electric Cooperative customers in need of help can stay at warming centers located in the Shelbina Library Basement, the Shelbyville Extension Office, Clarence City Hall, Hunnewell City Hall, the Callao Christian Church and the Bevier Baptist Church.
