While positive COVID-19 tests for students can still force them out of school for up to ten days, the Macon County Health Department is working to safely keep students in school as much as possible. Administrator Mike Chambers says they’re in constant contact with the county’s school districts.

Chambers adds they’re also working closely with the county’s daycares.

Chambers explains the current policy for a student testing positive in a Macon County school.

The rate of new COVID-19 cases in Macon County has remained flat for the past couple of weeks. Chambers is hopeful that trend will either continue or cases will begin to drop as students return to life at school.
