The Macon Tigers will hit the road to play the St. Charles West Warriors Tuesday. Macon defeated Mexico 2-1 and Centralia 3-1 to clinch its first district title in program history. Coach Kyle Robuck was proud of how his team handled adversity in the district tournament.
16-4 Macon is led on the mound by Chrisjen Riekeberg (8-2, 1.49 ERA) and Jakeb Swallow (4-1, 0.62 ERA).
Like Macon, Nuru Allen’s Warriors thrive on pitching and defense. Josh Newell (7-0, 0.76 ERA) and Ray Rico (5-0, 1.44 ERA) lead the way.
Aside from blowout losses to Christian and Timberland, 17-5 St. Charles West gives up just 1.9 runs per game. Allen says the team’s offense has been a consistent work in progress.
