Macon and Mexico Set for District Championship Clash

The Macon Tigers are seeking their second district title in three years when they host the Mexico Bulldogs Thursday night at Larry Bagby Field. The Tigers scored four runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 4-3 win over Kirksville Tuesday night. Macon coach Travis Mundahl says they need to maintain a consistent performance.

The Tigers bring a 21-6 record into the title bout. Mundahl says they’ll have their hands full dealing with a motivated Mexico squad.

The Bulldogs have outscored their two previous opponents in the district tournament by a combined score of 17-2. Mexico coach Daniel McCarty says their pitching and defense have also been key to their district success.

The Bulldogs upset top-seeded Hallsville 6-1 Tuesday night to maintain their postseason momentum. McCarty says there’s a simple formula for the Bulldogs to continue their winning ways.

Mexico entered the district tournament on a ten-game losing streak. Pregame coverage of the district title game will begin at 5:45 pm on KTCM 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
