Much of the Midwest has been experiencing a significant heatwave over the past week. This comes as many Missourians are looking to squeeze in some late summer outdoor activities. While being in and around water can help keep you cool, Shelby County Conservation Agent Kevin Lockard says its good to come prepared.
When swimming it is also important to re-apply sunscreen regularly as the risk for sunburn can increase with the sun reflecting off of the water. Lockard says proper hydration is important whether you’re swimming or camping.
Lockard adds its important to bring extra water when camping.
Campers are also reminded to bring plenty of mosquito and tick repellent when going outdoors.
