Linn County Prosecuting Attorney Shiante McMahon accused the Marceline Police Department of hatred, racism and sexism in a Facebook post Monday. McMahon included an image of one of her campaign shirts covered in explicit language. Marceline city leaders acknowledge a former officer hung the shirt at the police department in March of 2020. McMahon indicates someone recently showed her a picture of the shirt.

Marceline City Manager Richard Hoon notes he spoke to Police Chief Robert Donelson and several officers Monday night.

McMahon says she’s not convinced it was an isolated incident.

Donelson insists the shirt was not in public view. The police chief says he heard about the shirt and ordered the officer to remove it. Centralmoinfo.com asked Donelson what prompted the public dispute 16 months later.

Hoon further defends the Marceline Police Department.

McMahon has been the Linn County prosecuting attorney since January of 2019.
