In a rare move, the Missouri Senate adjourned the legislative session several hours early Friday without tying up some loose ends. Senate Democrats blocked business on the floor saying some members of Senate Republican leadership had broken promises this session. Even though he was in the other chamber, 6th District State Representative Ed Lewis said that action impacted an education amendment he was championing…..

It was the first legislative session for the freshman lawmaker from Moberly. Lewis discussed what he learned.

Lewis said one of the most important pieces of legislation to get through late in the session for his area was the Second Amendment Protection Act. It includes an emergency clause, so upon the Governor’s signature it will go into affect.
