The Aldo Leopold Conservation Award recognizes farm families who have integrated soil health promotion and other sustainability practices in their operations. For Joshlin Yoder of Shelby County and his wife Addie, this year’s recipients in Missouri, it’s just how they’ve done things since beginning their farm in 2008.

Yoder says through the Soil Health Partnership, they’ve begun utilizing cover crops to enhance their 1,100 acres of cropland and hay.

The Yoders recieved the award at last week’s Missouri Beef Industry Convention. The award is sponsored by the Sand County Foundation, Missouri Farmers Care, American Farmland Trust, and Missouri Soybeans.
