Legislation Would Make Car Dealers Collect Sales Tax

The Missouri House is looking at a bill that would change how car buyers pay the sales tax on their vehicles. State Representative Danny Busick of Newtown says Missourians would pay the sales tax at the dealer, rather than at the license office.

This would allow dealers to work the cost of the tax into the financing deal.

House Bill 415 has now been referred to the House Fiscal Review Committee. People buying vehicles from another private individual would still have to pay the tax at the license office.
