Late Surge Lifts Truman Men Over Cedarville In Kirksville

Truman overcame a nine-point lead with just under six minutes remaining to take down Cedarville 86-80 in the GLVC/G-MAC Men’s Crossover Challenge at Pershing Arena. The Bulldogs knocked down four triples for their first 12 points of the game. Truman carried the hot-start throughout the half, with eight total triples and an eventual 43-34 lead at halftime. In the second half, Grant Whisman caught fire for the Yellowjackets with back-to-back threes that gave Cedarville just its second lead of the afternoon. The Bulldogs made their run trailing 72-63.

Trey Shearer had a team-high 21 points for the Bulldogs and shot 5-6 from beyond the arc. Whisman led the Yellowjackets with 31 points that included seven threes. Head coach Jeff Horner applauded the fight from his team late in the contest.
Each Bulldog player that saw minutes scored in the game. Lovette and Porter finished with 14 and 13 respectively. Truman improves to 1-1. The Bulldogs will travel to face an Emporia State team that finished 20th in the national rankings last season.

Four players scored in double figures led by Ellie Weltha’s 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Truman Women’s Basketball team earned an 85-68 victory over Cedarville (Ohio) on Saturday evening.
